Martha Wilson

Until 2019, Martha Wilson was a writer, copy editor and production associate at Cox Media Group’s Newspaper Shared Services in Dayton, Ohio. She edited copy for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Austin American-Statesman, The Palm Beach Post and the Dayton Daily News. In addition, she edited business, real estate, automotive and retail publications for these markets.

She has also been a newsroom leader as a senior editor at Scripps Howard News Service in Washington, D.C.; the Stuart News and Treasure Coast Newspapers in Stuart, Fla.; and the Arkansas Gazette.

She has used her leadership skills as director of the Scripps Howard Foundation’s Semester in Washington program to help college journalists cover the news in the nation’s capital.

She was the Scripps Howard Endowed Professor at Hampton University in Hampton, Va., where she taught media writing, the Capstone class and directed the Academy of Writing Excellence.

In addition, Wilson has taught journalism courses at Ohio Wesleyan University. The courses included Introduction to Mass Media in 2014, Editing and Design in the spring of 2020 and Media Law, Data Journalism and a senior project class in the fall of 2020.
